EXERCISE AT HOME DURING COVID-19

Since most gyms are now closed due to COVID-19 experts say that you can still get a full body workout at home.

Exercising can help prevent going stir-crazy from staying home for an extended period of time.

Exercise is important for overall health, but also vital to protect yourself from airborne diseases like COVID-19.  Since we need to avoid places with high possibility of transmission it is important to develop some kind of exercise routine at home.

Focus on basic exercises like planks, sit-ups, push-ups, squats, leg lifts or bicycles and burpees for an easy workout that will build strength and increase your heart rate.  Do 4 rounds of 5 exercises for 45 seconds and increase rounds and time from there. Follow the rounds by 15 seconds of rest.

If you target exercises for different areas of your body you can achieve a full body workout in 20 minutes.

Aerobic exercise is important also to strengthen our heart muscle. Running, jogging, walking. Bicycle riding are just a few examples of aerobic exercise. Practice safe distancing when outside and wear protective equipment.

There are numerous exercise videos, classes available on You Tube and other portals. Yoga, relaxation, meditation is excellent in deterring stress and anxiety.  COVID-19 has caused an increase in anxiety levels in people of all ages. So, try to incorporate some form of exercise into your daily routine while we all try to adjust to this new way of life.
